Concentration of mind and inner strength – these are some of the effects of Anuloma Viloma, or alternate nostril breathing. You can do this sitting on a chai…

my left nostril seems blocked even though i do not have any cold or sinus
problem. as a result i can only breath through my right nostril. please
advise any solution and advise the reason for my blocked nostril

really? that is interesting.. I always thought that nadi shodana is by
default done without kumbhaka, and has more cleansing purpose on nadis,
    thank you

  3. SanthosBaala RS says

I get frequent nose blocks…any idea how I can practice this specific
exercise? Any other exercise that’ll clear my nose block first?

  4. YogaVidyaEnglish says

actually, the “classic” practice of both, Anuloma Viloma and Nadi Sodhana,
is done with Kumbhaka. Without Kumbhaka is a preliminary variation, geared
more towards beginners. At least that’s how Swami Vishnu-devananda, my Yoga
    Master, has taught.

  5. YogaVidyaEnglish says

Best is you ask a Yoga Teacher. He/she might be able to show you “Neti”, a
cleansing technique to open both nostrils. Otherwise you can try as much as
you can to still breath a little bit through your left nostril and increase
the time for the inhalation through your left nostril. You can also lie on
your right side for 1-2 minutes. Afterwards your left nostril might open up
sufficiently so you can breathe more freely.

Thank you very much for such a woderful demonstration of Pranaayaama.
However, at the end could you please explain the benefits of these? Can
these be practiced as remedial measures for example Nasal congestion or
    bronchitis etc..? thanks

  7. YogaVidyaEnglish says

Yes, altenate nostril breathing has tremendous good effects on the
respiratory system. It helps against nasal congestion, bronchitis, asthma
and various other problems. If you have any of these respiratory problems,
it is best to seek the advice of an experienced Yoga teacher. It is
advisable to start slowly. The video shows an intermediate variation.

    kidman, madonna,…

  9. YogaVidyaEnglish says

Yes, Anuloma Viloma quietens the mind, helping to transform anxiety into
positive energy. Try it out – it can work like a charm.

Does anuloma viloma balance the creative and logical sides of the brain or
    Nadi Shodhana?

  11. Feddan75 says

It could be the same thing that i´ve got. The wall in my nose isn´t
straight. Can´t really do that much about it. Only surgery can fix it.
